Building social chess

Shatranj is a small team building a chess platform where the people matter as much as the games: real-time multiplayer, peer-to-peer video, an in-browser engine, and tournament infrastructure that has to stay correct while thousands of clocks tick at once.

The problems are genuinely hard and unusually varied. Clock authority across unreliable networks, WebRTC that survives real-world connections, rating systems that resist manipulation, and an interface that stays fast on a mid-range phone.

How we work

Remote, small, and shipping continuously to players who notice immediately when something breaks. If you play chess and write software, those two things overlap here more than they usually get to.
